The page 99 website

I've added myself to this experimental website for both published and unpublished authors. Work is judged on a single page and no names shown, to ensure unbiased feedback. Read any page 99, and click to record whether you would turn the page, and how likely it is that you would buy the book. It's an interesting concept, and once you start reading other authors' pages, it's difficult to stop.

The art of pottering

I’ve just spent a tranquil afternoon making curtains. Saturday afternoons are an oasis of contentment in our house. My husband watches sport on television undisturbed, while I potter. Pottering, with no deadline to meet, is a much undervalued activity that refreshes the spirit as much as meditation does. There is the satisfaction of crossing another couple of jobs off my never-ending list of things to do, yet pottering also provides excellent thinking time. While my fingers are busy, my thoughts are free to roam. Soothing.
